| Overview of Undergraduate
Program |
| Majors earning a Bachelor of Science degree
in Geography and Environmental Resources study the dynamic relationship
between nature and society in the field and the computer laboratory
as well as in the traditional classroom. |
| Courses
|
| Courses are taught by PhD-holding faculty
with excellent national and international reputations in their fields.
GIS/RS courses have labs to provide students with more personal
attention from outstanding graduate students. Course sizes are small,
400-level classes have an average of 11 students per class. |
| Specializations |
| Students choose among three concentrations
focusing on different aspects of geography and environmental resources;
environmental management, geographic information science (GIS), and
climate and water resources. A foundation of core courses help students
develop the analytic and research skills appropriate to their research
interest. |
| Advisement &
Mentoring in Geography |
| Advisement is handled through the College of Liberal Arts Advisement Office, with the Geography Undergraduate Program Advisor, and ultimately with a faculty specialist. Students have many opportunities to discuss advising questions with faculty. |
| Internships & Cooperative Work Experience
|
| Practical experience is an important part
of our program. Students receive academic credit for their internship
experience. |
| Research
Opportunities for Undergraduates |

students one-on-one working relationships with faculty and
graduate students in laboratories, studios, and libraries, on
campus and in the field. |
