| Hi,
You folks said you wanted to "hear" from alumni, so here goes.
My experience at SIU from 63-65 was great. I was with some great
fellow students who went on for PhDs in Geography, such as John
Hall, Curt Roseman, David Schwarz, David Sibley, Gary Meyer, John
Jakle, Peter Hosking (who did his PhD there at SIU), as well as
a few others I don't recall. I kept up with these, because they
remained in academia. Many others, however, took diferent paths,
and I have not kept up with them.
I visited the department last summer when passing through town,
the fist time I had visited since 1966. Many changes of course,
but still I recognized much, and enjoyed it all. I spoke to Professors
Dziegielewski and Horsley (who, as a visiting student, I believe
took a class with me at SIU). I also had lunch with Bob Harper,
and that I enjoyed very much.
I retired a couple of years ago from Arizona State University--but
I stay active. Personally, Marlene and I have been married now for
37 years, and have two children and four grandchildren. Life is
good.
